Göcek mostly caters for yachtsmen and women; consequently there is very little nightlife in the town, apart from one or two very pleasant bars and a music/dance bar. As sailors generally wake early, sail during the day, and sleep early, the most active time in Göcek is between 19.00 and 22.00 hrs, during which time the many bars and restaurants are buzzing with clients. As is usual in most seaside towns there is a delightful esplanade along which you can see and be seen.
There is no public beach in Göcek, but there are many day-tripper boats available to take you to Göcek Island that offers one of the cleanest beaches you will ever have seen. Larger boats (Gullets) offer one-day or longer trips into the unspoiled beautiful bays not far away. It is also possible to charter a private vessel with your family and friends so that you can enjoy the freedom of the turquoise waters at your leisure.
Cars, motorbikes and bicycles are readily available for rent offering you the possibility of exploring the surrounding areas. For instance you could drive to Baba Dað Mountain (47km) and have a unique paragliding experience. The possibilities with your own transport are endless.
SHOPPING IN GÖCEK
As soon as you have settled into your accommodation there can be nothing better to do than to discover the delights that Göcek town offers. With the centre of the town being pedestrian-only during the summer months you are soon away from the noise and stress of modern-day living. Even if you are staying on the outskirts of the town, it is only a short walk to the centre along the highways and byways where you can enjoy looking at the local gardens and seeing the sights and hearing the sounds of everyday life.
When you arrive in the centre, you will see a long street called Turgut Özal Street that offers many outlets for antique and modern carpets and textiles, gifts shops, restaurants, yachting agencies, estate agencies, etc. It is possible to find all your needs in this street.
