ARRIVAL TO GÖCEK
Göcek is situated in the South-West of Turkey along the Muğla – Fethiye highway and is surrounded by the tree-covered Taurus Mountains. In earlier times transportation in this area was difficult because of the uneven land, but after the Fethiye – Dalaman highway was enlarged and the Göcek tunnel completed (2006), Göcek became much more accessible. Today the distance between Göcek and the International Airport at Dalaman has been reduced to 22 km.
For those visitors coming to Göcek by road, the distances from the surrounding towns and cities are as follows:
Dalaman 22 km
Fethiye 28 km
Muğla 100 km
Marmaris 103 km
Antalya 210 km
İzmir 310 km
Buses and coaches run by companies such as Kamil Koç, Pamukkale, Metro, Ulusoy, etc. have connections between Göcek and other big cities such as İstanbul, İzmir and Ankara.
There are two public car parks in Göcek, one with a 100 car capacity in front of the town council offices (Belediye) and the other with a 30 car capacity in front of the Gendarmerie building. During the summer season traffic is not allowed to enter the central part of Göcek between 09.00 – 13.00 and 16.00 – 24.00.
Charter Airline companies operate flights from many European countries during the summer season and there are also regular scheduled services that run all the year round. With the International Airport at Dalaman only 22 km away from Göcek this makes travelling by air a convenient option.
Many people who live in the larger cities of Turkey escape to Göcek at the weekends. The flight from İstanbul takes only 50 minutes and there are also facilities for landing a helicopter.
There is an all-year-round ferry service operating from Marmaris to Rhodes and a summer only service between Fethiye and Rhodes.
For those who wish to sail to Göcek, they will find six different marinas for yachts and motorboats awaiting their arrival. Distances to Göcek by sea are as follows:
Fethiye 10 nm
Marmaris 46 nm
Finike 88 nm
Bodrum 118 nm
Antalya 139 nm
