For many years Göcek has been spoken about in terms of yachting tourism. However, since the 1980’s it has developed an accommodation sector and, in recent years, has started to offer excellent accommodation at an international level.
You will notice some distinctive characteristics when you arrive at Göcek. As soon as you turn towards Göcek from the highway you will notice there are no buildings more than 2.5 floors (entrance, second and roof floor). The reason for this is that on 12th June 1988, the Environmental Protection Agency in Turkey passed a law that protects the Göcek area. You will find many old and new houses, villas, pensions, apart hotels and boutique hotels combined together in Göcek. You will not find built-up areas here but you will find smart, clean, good quality accommodation. The average holiday home will be constructed of wood, reinforced concrete or stone surrounded by natural green gardens.
There are no all-inclusive hotels in Göcek but you can find delicious food at every hour of the day in the local restaurants.
As there is no beach in the centre of Göcek, nearly all the accommodation blocks have swimming pools in their gardens. If you wish to visit a beach for swimming, there is a shuttle minibus between Göcek and İnlice beach during the daytime. You can also go swimming on daily tripper boats, which start every morning around 10:00 am and finish 18:00 or, if you prefer, take a shuttle boat next to the municipal marina office and go to Göcek Island. These run every hour on the hour. If you are looking for above average or very high quality service, you can choose a holiday village or upmarket hotel, which are also available in Göcek.
If you are a sea addict, you might prefer a pension by the seaside where you can watch the blue sea, daily tripper boats and wonderful bays. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a magnificent blue view every morning?
Göcek has very limited accommodation, therefore you may have difficulty finding a room or villa in the peak summer season, so we suggest you book your room early to ensure a peaceful holiday.
